We mainly talked about colors, again: ufraw its new 0.17 release, continues with swatchbooker small developments and the recent releases of scribus (output of a cosmetic development version 1.3.6) and digikam 1.2.0 (which improves the UI and supports the transition to a Mysql database, stronger). But mostly, we just talked about the continuous development of ramen, a node editor for images and video.

A new issue of our Podcast that i would have wished to be a montly. Anyway you know about Christmas, Weihnachten etc. Always a good reason to keep quiet

Today we talk about print workflow with some new and nice piece of software that will improve the Libre Workflow.
News from colors quality with GnomeColorManagement that will help to popularize this part of the JOb? f course we already have DispCalGUI but it is less integrated with the Desktop. CMYKTool is a new application based on Separate that will produce CMYK picture exported to 8 or 16bit. But we focus mainly on Whyteboard , an PDF annotation tool That is great since it does what Inkscape don’t ; support multipage PDF, allow annotation with text box or paint tools, incorporate imported media files, briefly all what is needed to someone who would tell is mind about a PDF he receives.

On Release side, see :
- digikam 1.1.0 (104 bugfixes) (http://www.digikam.org)
- G’mIC (http://gmic.sourceforge.net/index.shtml)
- Gnome Color Management (http://live.gnome.org/GnomeColorManager)
- ArgyllCMS (http://argyllcms.com)
- MyPaint 0.8.0 (http://mypaint.intilinux.com)
- tintii 2.2.0 (automatic saturation selector) (http://www.indii.org/software/tintii)
- SwatchBooker 0.5 (http://www.selapa.net/swatchbooker)

At last, after a missed episode, i can talk about the new Inkscape release : 0.47. New eraser tool, new spiro curves and SVG fonts implementation, and so many new effects and preset filters that you’ll need months to get used to. It worth the timelapse.
Blender is going on developping its way to professionalism and with him many other software so that some art school are now providing courses on them. I will personnaly teach some Scribus-Gimp-Inkscape in some, and i can say i’m proud of it because simply 2 or 3 years ago, many of those guys were laughing at me. it should have recorded them :)

Listen to the podcast. I’ve added an ogg french version but can easily do it for english if some are interested.
As always, leave your comments !

Hey the first creationlibre podcast episode in english, as i promised.
This month we are still waiting the release of Inkscape but Blender launches Durian after an exceptionnal subscription rate. Tintii software is a very simple way to convert an image into black and white while retaining some colored area. Tintii’s advantage is that it’s in a single click. If you often need this, this is a software of choice. Finally plugin gimp Iterative Save lets you save time and safetier by automatically naming your steps with incremented numbers.
