Jon Cruz – Printing on linux

Print professionals have different needs because working with different peripherals or needs, our even goals.

CMYK isn’t really needed. Control on the colour is an illusion, the conversion should happen at the end of the process.

Linux works for the masses. Normal jobs are printing RGB workflow some special needs will have specific option but this is different.

Where is the pain ? few applications support professional print needs, even libraries and drivers. Except GImp, Krita, Sk1, Gimp, Scribus. What about print subsystems ? CUPS, Gutenprint, Google cloud print.

Painful cases : trapping, a=masking, knowckout/overprint, rich black, true black…, Black text // Inks limis, dot shape, halftoning angles.
